The programme IEMA-Ensemble 2021/22 presents at the Gaudeamus Festival in September 2022 has been developed over several steps. Hibernation by Hilli/Jokela deals with themes such as isolation, loneliness, depression, anxiety, shame and escapism as it follows its protagonist go on a personal journey of dreaming, sleeping and longing, gradually escalating deeper and deeper into hibernation. The premiere takes place at Centre Pompidou in June 2022.
In addition, 3 young composers are invited to create world premieres in 2 steps: after exchanging first ideas at try-out sessions Ende of April in Frankfurt all-new compositions have their world premiere during the Gaudeamus Muziekweek at the beginning of September. Later on, a rerun follows in Frankfurt/Germany.
